Ilya Pieper is a multimedia artist who has been influenced by a combination of math, science, and beauty. She is a part of a close-knit community of artists in Austin, Texas, and has been involved with the festival building community across America since 2009. Her varied past projects include traditional photo-realistic paintings, large scale murals, as well as less conventional media such as tattoos, freak bike building, welding, mechanics, wood working, yurt building, and more.
The Cathedral of Celestial Mathgic is an interactive mathematical musical experience designated as the Burning Man Cafe Portal. The center piece to the Cathedral of Celestial Mathgic is a Frabjous (a polyhedron creation of George W. Hart, an interdisciplinary sculptor, mathematician, computer scientist, and educator) comprised of 30 identical pieces which come together to create 20 points with 12 sides.
